We are committed to creating a world where every individual's unique abilities are recognized, celebrated, and empowered. Our dedication to inclusivity, advocacy, and collaboration drives us to be the missing link in the lives of those we serve, helping them thrive and lead fulfilling lives in their communities.

At Missing Link, our primary goal is to empower individuals to achieve their fullest potential.

We aspire to create an environment where individuals feel supported, understood, and equipped with the tools to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

By offering personalised support, fostering skill development, promoting social inclusion, and nurturing mental well-being, we aim to break down barriers and pave the way for our clients to thrive in their communities. Our ultimate achievement lies in being the catalyst for positive change, helping each person we serve embrace their uniqueness and contribute meaningfully to their community.

What sets us apart

What sets us apart at Missing Link is our unwavering commitment to personalised support that truly embraces the individuality of each person we serve.

We combine expertise in Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Mental Health with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and strengths of our clients.

Our holistic approach, encompassing tailored programs, one-on-one guidance, and a strong emphasis on community integration, ensures that we not only address immediate needs but also empower individuals to lead meaningful and self-directed lives

Our collaborative and compassionate team, rooted in a culture of respect and inclusion, creates an environment where everyone feels valued and understood.

We chose the name "Missing Link" because it symbolises our core belief in bridging gaps and connecting individuals to the resources, support, and opportunities they need. Just as a missing link completes a chain, we strive to be that essential piece that completes the support system for adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Mental Health challenges. Our name reflects our commitment to filling the gaps in social care, understanding, and empowerment that these individuals may face, ensuring they have access to the tailored assistance and guidance necessary for their personal growth and well-being.

What truly distinguishes us from our competition is our dual commitment to remaining a small-scale provider and incorporating lived experience into our approach. Unlike larger organisations, our deliberate choice to stay small enables us to maintain a deeply personalised, one-on-one approach to support. This ensures that every individual receives the attention, support, and understanding they deserve.

Moreover, our unique emphasis on integrating lived experience sets us apart. Some of our team members have personal connections to Learning Disabilities, Autism, or Mental Health challenges, giving us an empathetic insight that informs our programs and interactions. This genuine understanding enables us to offer more meaningful, relatable, and effective support, creating a sense of trust and camaraderie that might be harder to achieve in larger settings.

It's this blend of personal connection, individualised care, and a commitment to remaining small that truly sets us apart in the landscape of support providers.

SMALL SUPPORTS

Characteristics of Small Supports Organisations
as described by NDTi (National Development Team for Inclusion)

1. From the first steps the person (and their chosen family and friends) enjoys as much control as possible and there is a commitment to this control growing.

2. The starting point to developing great support is the person’s aspirations about where they want to live and the life they want to have; a conversation about support then follows from this.

3. Supporters (staff) are recruited by and around the individual. They don’t work across services. Staff are not a substitute for friends, community peers, co-workers and neighbors.

4. The person chooses where they live and who, if anyone, they live with. The person is the tenant or owner of their own home or perhaps they live with family. There is a clear separation of housing and support.

5. Funding is sustainable and is designed and used around the individual.

6. Small supports organisations stay with people. Change and challenges are expected so they don’t withdraw support or ‘sell’ services on.

7. Small supports organisations are rooted in their local community - in their work, leadership, recruitment and actions.

8. The organisations stay relatively small. Knowing each person well means not growing by more than three to five people a year and finding a natural size where people are known and valued, and the organisation is financially sustainable.

9. Small supports organisations are developed around these practices. Taking some of these practices and making them aspirations within large, segregated services and will not deliver the desired outcomes.
